Welcome to the very first edition of our Design Resources Pack, the basic idea behind this is; we collect a load of resources around a certain theme or style and put them together in one place.
Grunge is a style which is often misunderstood. Grunge doesn’t always have to mean really over the top dirty and dark. Today grunge comes in many forms, subtle grunge effects seem to be more common than just completely “grunging” something up. Whether you choose to be subtle, or over-the-top with your Grunge style here are some amazing resources to help you out.

Here is a new addition, a set that we ourselves have made. The idea behind this one is to have some very soft grunge effects which you can use to build up texture.

Urban Strokes Grunge Brushes
Now, these are some brushes which have been around for some time, but they really are the best grunge brushes I’ve ever used. Most of them are quite subtle and can be used to great effect.

Floral Decorations
Using some old style floral patterns can really add to any grunge look. Some sweet decoration mixed with some grunge can really help give a great balance.

Branches & Foliage
To help enhance the organic grunge feel you can use various elements such as flowers, trees etc… Anything to help get across that natural / eroded feel.

Various Watercolour Brushes
A variety of Sources here, but watercolour brushes can help add texture, or colour to your Grunge Design, if used cleverly.

Scribbles
Want something to look really rough, add some scribbles to it! A really nice effect which can add some much needed texture and depth to your look.

Splats & Smudges
Splats are a common method to help Grunge up anything, I think used together splats & smudges can give a great organic reel.

Ornaments & Fleurons
A good way to add a touch of class to your designs is with ornaments, these organic sweeping shapes look very regal & decorative, take a look!

Black Widdow
Quite Hard to find some Grunge Font’s that haven’t been included in Danny Outlaw’s post, but looking through some of my fonts I managed to find a few. Here’s a great one.

Urban Sketched
This is a great font, the sketched look is a huge part of grunge design, this font would be great used with the smudges & scribble brushes mentioned above.

Everyday Ghost
Very dirty and elegant font, a great mix of styles which I think work very well together.

Rugged Type
Another pretty useful grunge style font, as usual free to use. A great way of adding instant 20 years of grunge to your text.

JA Font
This font is very bold, big bold and grungy. It’s quite a nice font but one you’d only really get to use in certain special occasions, nevertheless a very nice looking font.

Sketch Rockwell
Another nice sketched style grunge font, I think this is a beautiful font, so much so I even used it in a upcoming Wordpress theme. Great addition to your font collection.

Various Wood Textures
It’s all about the wood, very popular in grunge designs now is Wood, a great way to add some organic/natural grunge/age to your design. Here are a few collections of Wood Textures.

Fabric Texture Collections
There are a variety of textures that will go with the grunge style, you just need to find the right textures to use in the right places. Fabrics can be a great background surface for your designs.

Stone / Concrete Textures
Graffiti is a big inspiration for a lot of Grunge based designs, so what better background texture for your work than concrete, brick or stone. Some really great collections of Concrete & Stone textures.

A texture which always adds a grunge / worn feel is paper, such a useful texture to use in your work.

A popular style in grunge is to include items you might find on a desk, pens, pencils, cups of coffee etc, this just helps add another element of “random mess” which can actually look very visually pleasing.

The Prodigy Spitfire - Music Video
The Prodigy are my favourite all time band, and this music video is very dirty and grungey, captures the style of music very well. Great effects and movement and a powerful feel.
