The world of WordPress is growing with some amazing themes these days, but theme prices are on the rise too. There’s nothing wrong with paying for good themes, but what do you do when you want to get your website up and running with a smaller budget? Don’t worry, I’ve put together this collection of the very best responsive WordPress themes that you can pick up for under $20 each.
Editor WordPress Theme is not just one of the cheapest themes out there, it’s also one of my favourites! Editor puts bold and beautiful publishing right at your fingertips with comfortable, legible typography and large featured images. Make sure you check out the demo to fully appreciate how much of a bargain this is!
Sophia Magazine Theme. $19
Sophia by Basepixels is a Bold and beautiful Magazine style WordPress theme handcrafted for publishers of all niches. Available fully responsive with a few different layout options, and Google web fonts integrated too.
Ez Theme. $7
Ez Responsive WP Theme is ideal for you designers out there looking to set up a simple, responsive portfolio. Nothing fancy, just a solid portfolio style theme. For just $7 you get a shiny new portfolio right out of the box.
Storyteller probably leads the way on this list as the best looking theme here, I absolutely love it, and I was surprised that it was available for just $19. Perfect for photographers, travellers or food bloggers alike, the theme follows the style of a Medium post, or an Exposure story. A great theme at any price!
Thoughts Simple Blogging. $7
Thoughts is a WordPress theme designed for writers, bloggers and note takers. The simplicity of this theme is it’s main advantage, and I love it. Although it’s simple, there’s lots of nice details throughout the theme, and everything is beautifully styled. A solid theme, one to demo for sure.
Yoga Lifestyle Theme. $6
Yoga comes in at just $6, one of the cheapest in this list, but it doesn’t lack in quality or looks. Made by Hipster Themes, it comes with free support, fully responsive and is easy to customize, with things like Google web fonts built in.
CMP Fifty. $10
CMP Fifty – Maintenance Landing Page is exactly what you might expect, maintenance, coming soon, or landing page style template for a great way to spruce up your maintenance pages. Alternatively you can use it as a very simple landing page to link to your social profiles with ease.
Natalie Blog & Shop Theme. $15
Natalie comes packed with a bunch of layouts, giving you a lot of control over how your blog or shop looks. At just $15 you get a great looking theme that comes with useful features such as an Instagram feed, and WooCommerce compatibility for those of you looking to create your own shop.
Writers Blog Theme. $15
Writers is a lovely minimal WordPress theme built with writing in mind. Pairing beautiful big bold images, and a simple easy to read layout, it’s a great theme for giving your writing the attention it deserves.
Journal News Blog. $15
Journal is a slick looking Magazine or News style blogging theme. You can pick it up for just $15 and enjoy some of it’s best features; Woocommerce & BbPress & Buddypress Support, Page Builder and Homepage Builder, 700x Font Options , 1000x Font Icons all included.
Shrake is a minimalistic micro-blogging WordPress theme with focus on the content through simplicity in design, clean typography & a streamlined layout.
Vanz Portfolio Theme. $20
Vanz is one of the more expensive themes in our list, but it’s also one of the more feature packed themes featured. Choose from a variety of pre-made colours and patterns and enjoy the advanced theme options panel to customize every bit of your site without knowing any code, and experience infinite scroll on the blog and portfolio sections. A great theme to pick up at just $20.
RailMan Photo Bloggers. $19
Railman is another favourite of mine. The theme combines great looking featured images with a solid focused layout. Ideal for story telling bloggers!
Stork Minimal Blog. $2 or Free
Stork is actually available for free if you want it. But why not support the creator of this theme and buy the theme instead for just $2. It’s a delightfully simple theme, but could be put to great use on your next project.
Milano Blog Theme. $19
Milano is a clean and minimalist theme that allows your reader to focus on your content, build especially for daily or hobby bloggers who love to share their stuff, whether it’s about life, fashion, travel, beauty or just a simple personal blog.
Source Minimal Theme. $19
Source is made for professional bloggers sharing their thoughts & ideas. Robust, yet so simple and classic in design. Simply a great looking theme.
Anna Blog & eCommerce. $19
Anna is the ideal WordPress theme to share your stories, sell your products and manage your fashion or food blog. Complete with an advanced theme options panel it’s ideal for first timers as well as seasoned blogging pros!
Elle Blog Theme. $19
Elle has a great looking grid layout as well as a number of pre-built layout options, ready for you to play with to get your blog looking exactly how you want. Make sure you explore the demo to see this beauty working it’s magic.
Ready Clean Theme. $20
Ready is responsive and clean WordPress theme which is an ideal choice for blog, magazine, portfolio and personal purposes.
WordPress Bundle – 11 Themes. $18
This WordPress Bundle from Hipster theme contains $330+ worth of themes for just $18. We featured one of their themes in this list already, but were pleasantly surprised to see that they’ve got this great bundle of 11 themes that comes in under our $20 budget. Best of all, theme updates are available for free too. If you’ve made it this far, and don’t know which theme to go for, this might be the purchase for you.
